Chevy's Commitment to Safety
Your family’s safety is important to us. Whether it’s a short errand around town or a cross-country road trip, Chevrolet is committed to keeping you and your family safe — from the start of your journey to your destination. That’s why every Chevrolet is designed with a comprehensive list of safety and security features to help give you peace of mind. Here are just a few things that Chevy vehicles offer to help keep your family safe:
Saftey Belts
Every Chevrolet has a light that comes on as a reminder to buckle up. Always fasten your safety belt, and check that your passengers' belts are fastened properly, too.
Most Chevrolet vehicles offer three-point safety belt systems for seating positions along with front-seat pretensioners designed to reduce belt slack during a moderate to severe collision to help better restrain front-seat occupants.
The Latch System
An important part of getting there safe involves proper installation of child safety seats. And virtually all 2005 Chevy vehicles feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Top tethers for CHildren) system standard(1):
The LATCH system is designed to make installation of child restraints easier using specific anchors and child restraint attachments in place of safety belts. The location of each LATCH system varies by vehicle. A vehicle’s top tether anchor (at a LATCH position, or by itself) may be used when installing a child restraint with the safety belts if the child restraint manufacturer says to use the top tether. Any LATCH-compatible, forward-facing or rear-facing child safety seat with the LATCH system can be used. Regardless of the system you use, it’s very important to know where to properly place a child safety seat in your vehicle.
Anitlock Brake System (ABS)
Antilock brake systems (ABS) are designed to help you maintain steering control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery surfaces. (On select vehicles)
Daytime Running Lamps
With Daytime Running Lamps, certain frontal lighting of your vehicle is activated when the ignition is turned on to make your vehicle more visible to other drivers during the day. (Standard on every Chevy vehicle)
Driver Information Center
The DIC keeps you informed on key vehicle functions while you’re on the road. Depending on the vehicle, it displays numerous messages, including: change oil, hot coolant temp, door ajar, trunk open, low oil pressure, low fuel, low washer fluid and more. NOTE: The location of the DIC depends on vehicle. (On select vehicles)
